I probably would not need the rate of $85/hr. I'm not trying to get over on anybody.

If you cant bill them & get a profit &/or break even, I dont want to be known by your shop
as a person who is too greedy. I just want to cover the cost of the travel, hotel for that area
& a normal check for admin. work.

If they are administering their servers properly, backing up their Oracle & Intralink data properly. It should be a quick upgrade. If they have a test server or are putting the
new version on a new server (or can do so), we could be done in a couple weeks.

I would probably need a test server anyway (compatible to run as the main server,
if need be).

I just cant handle another very poor cad database environment, like I just left.

It would also help if I dont have issues with their IT group, while doing my job.

I know IM asking a lot, but so many IT groups are into their power over the users & make
it hard to be productive.

I don't want to pass on my current Windchill possibilities. I interview with PTC Tuesday & I
am submitted for Nike in OR & awaiting their response.

But if we do this quickly, maybe I wont miss either of them.

Maybe you can ask them a few questions up front & see if it is a properly kept environment.

=========================================================
Are they on Unix or Windows.

What backup practices/tools do they use. Hot, cold or both backup. Full daily or daily
incremental's & weekly full backups. Some do different type backups for Oracle & Intralink.
Some don't.

I would ask what many more questions, but it would take awhile, but it might be best that I speak with their current cad admin &/or a knowledgeable IT member.

I think Intralink 8, leans more towards Windchill type architecture. Web based. Maybe
a web server, servlet engine & LDAP environment like Windchill, because I think they have combined Intralink & PDMLink in Intralink 8.

I would probably have to talk to PTC up front & see what the best rouet is & what all it takes
to upgrade to Intralink 8. I have an idea, but I call them no matter what I am doing. They are
good at it & you need to make them accountable anyway.

I can try to call them with my past company's scn number (service contract number),
but they might refuse support, if something shows I am not at Heico anymore. I doubt Heico
shut down my PTC account & I have their scn, but you never know.

If I can use their scn, maybe I can use your clients scn, since it will be for them.

I can also use the ptc support knowledge base, but its easier talking to them in person.

To tell the truth, I almost dont want to do the job, if they are not open to upgrading on a new server. A new server can be as cheap as $3000-$4000. Some less, but you need speed
& disc-space.

It will be much easier. I wont need too much IT^ support, if its a server off their LAN.

Then I can just install fresh, import/migrate the old data, back it up properly, etc.

Let me know what you think. Maybe even pass this email to them, in case they know all
these terms better that some one in your office. Not assuming your office does not
understand the terminology, but most contract firms don't.

I will call you shortly. Or you can call me: 954-455-5439.

Thank You
