Suman & Minx
You might need to forward this email to Jeff, because it could impact his
time to upgrade.
One of the things that I forgot to mention, is that there are a couple
things that Jeff (Va admin) can do up front, that will make my work quicker
& maybe finish sooner is:
Make sure he has all the latest CD's for Intralink8 from PTC, including the
He can have them shipped, but it might be quicker to download from the
ptc.com site.
This all takes time if he has not done all this already, it time that he
has to pay for later
&/or cause us to run short.
Since he is also going to a new server, while simultaneously using the old,
he needs to have PTC send him a 2nd license file for the new server
(license~.txt). One for each server.
He can retire the old later or not. But he cant go on the new server unless
the licensing allows it.
Of course he has to have a ptc account & go to the update/download
support site
to download. But if he has not updated his account to be able to receive
the Intralink8
upgrade, he has to request it.
&
Then he can download CD's or they will ship them. Hopefully in a timely
fashion
He will need his scn (service contract number) to call them
1-800-477-6435
(1-800-4PRO-HELP) & get license files & site support updated for
intralink8.
Here are the CD's they will send &/or he needs to download (some should
be grouped
into same zips):
Pro/INTRALINK - ORACLE Software Assistant 2.0 CD (entitled customers
only)
Pro/INTRALINK - ORACLE 9.2.0.1.0 CD Set (entitled customers
only)
Pro/INTRALINK - ORACLE 9.2.0.5.0 Patch CD Set (entitled customers
only)
Pro/INTRALINK 8.0 CD
Windchill 8.0 Services CD
Windchill 8.0
Third Party Software CD
Aphelion Directory Server for Windchill 8.0 CD
Windchill 8.0 Info*Engine CD
Windchill 8.0 Multi Language CD
He should also download this tool, but its quick & I can do it
later.
He can float me his scn & I can do from afar, for no cost to him (from
me or you guys),
since you are mainly worried about his timeline also. Or I can help him
over the phone
or through a rdc or netmeeting desktop sharing. If I do it from afar, I can
burb CD's & bring with me.
If I do the license request for the new server, he will need to send me the
MACID for the new server: From a dos command window:
D:\>ipconfig /all
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . .

. . . . . : 00-0C-6E-B3-1A-78
The number he needs is: 00-0C-6E-B3-1A-78
This is of course from my PC/Server, but he needs to make sure its of the
Ethernet adaptor.
he could also direct it to a file & send to me (if I do the call to
ptc):
D:\>ipconfig /all>ipcfg_new_svr.txt
He will need most of this done whether he uses us or not.
If I do it from afar (in advance), Im not currently working, so I wont mind
it being for free.
